Summer + Hot Tubs

Every year, about this time I get the same question...“Can I keep my spa water cooler in the summer?”

And here's my answer: Sure, it’s possible to lower your spa’s temperature during the summer months. But it’s important to remember that you bought a hot tub, not a cool tub. If your hot tub is set to 90 degrees in the summer and you keep you cover closed (and vented)* you can enjoy using it year round. In the hot summer months, it’s unrealistic to think that you could maintain a water temperature below about 90 degrees, unless your spa is in a cool, covered area. Many spas will actually trip off to prevent “overheating” if you set the water temperature too low, so try to be realistic with your desired temperature settings in the summer months. I recently had a customer tell me that they freeze a gallon of water in a jug and place it in the spa as soon as they get in during the summer months nad that actually keeps it a bit cooler...I have not tried this myself, but it sounds like a fun idea!

*Tip: Vent your cover by placing two bottle caps on opposite sides of the spa’s shell before closing the cover. By allowing any excess heat that may be building up under the cover to escape, you can keep the tub cooler.

Reindeer Games!

If you've ever been in our store, you must have figured out pretty quickly that we know a thing or two about having FUN! 

And, if you've ever met Santa, then you know that he is one fun loving bearded guy!!!

This year, Santa has been stocking up on all kinds of fun gifts to fill the stockings

of kids AND kids at heart.

Just yesterday, he placed an order for Bandit dartboards and Hammer Head darts. While he says that he's not very good at darts, himself (you know his vision isn't as good as it used to be) his elves hold a weekly dart league tournament. This time of year, it's important to let the elves have some fun break time, it really helps increase productivity in the wood shop if they can look forward to some eggnog and a competitive game of cricket at the end of a long day! This year, we even set up their break room with some elf-size pub tables and stools, complete with a custom logo courtesy of Holland Barstools! Rudolf's ego gets a little boost when he see's his handsome face and big red nose on the custom billiard cloth that covers the Olhausen Billiards table in the reindeer lounge. You might not have guessed it, but when Rudolf's not tweeting and uploading pics of Blitzen on Instagram, he gets a thrill out of beating Dasher at his favorite Reindeer game...foosball. They have a Bonzini table in the lounge and for the past 30 years, Rudolph has won a trophy for his mad foosball skills...not bad for a guy with no opposable thumbs! Santa has already pre-ordered a few foosball tables for some really good boys and girls this year, so if you have a special somemone on your list that wants a foosball table this year, be sure to let us know so we can arrange a drop with Santa. 

Most of the fun gifts we sell don't fit down the chimney, so give us a few days to coordinate with NORAD and Santa's Delivery Team to arrange delivery and installation of your new pool table or game table...and remember that there are only a few days left to get in your order before Santa is officially booked for this holiday season!
